AULT Pottery - Large Hand Painted Vase by Clarissa Ault
Welcome to my auction of a Large Ault Pottery Vase with a Wavy Rim.
It measures 17 inches or 430mm tall by 7 inches or 180mm at its widest.
It is hand painted with baskets of flowers certainly in the style of William Ault's daughter Clarissa and it is rare to see something of this size painted by her.
It is in excellent condition with no cracks, repairs or detrimental wear. For completeness there is a very small glaze chip to the foot rim.
It is completely unmarked but I have no doubt that it is by Ault dating to 1890 or so.
William Ault (1842-1929) established his pottery in 1887 in Swadlincote, Derbyshire and continued until 1919 when the firm merged with the Ashby Guild.
As with all my shop items, if you wish to discuss anything or are nervous using the checkout, please contact me, I’m sure we can come to an arrangement. All items are sent post free to anywhere in the UK, please contact me if for a quote for overseas delivery.
